Nenagh Ormond Senior XV

Nenagh Ormond Senior XV played Thomond on Friday night last in their first home game of the season.  This was a hard fought win for the lads who came out on top by 8 points to 6, a score which does not reflect what was an exciting match to watch.

A Dan Fogarty penalty got Nenagh on the scoreboard early and Thomond responded not too long later with three points of their own.  Ruaidhri O’Brien was Nenagh’s try scorer with a great finish which came after some well cleaned out rucks gave scrum half Eoin Gardiner quick ball.  Some lovely handling saw the ball go out the backline to Dan Fogarty, who came in from fullback and straightened beautifully to leave the space for O’Brien’s pace to take him over the line.  Thomond slotted a second penalty before half time and this was to be the final score of the match.

Despite the lack of scoring, the second half continued to be an action-packed spectacle with the large crowd totally engrossed throughout.  Thanks to all who came out to support the lads, it was very much appreciated.

Next up for Nenagh Ormond are Bective Rangers in Donnybrook on Saturday.  Kick-off is at 3pm but it is definitely worth travelling up a couple of hours earlier as the Munster A v Leinster A interprovincial game kicks off at 1pm!
